Happy World Sleep Day!

Did you know that today, the 19th of March, is World Sleep Day? I didn’t even know something like this existed! At first, I found it amusing, but after thinking about why there’s a need to

celebrate it, I concluded that not everyone has the luxury of benefiting from sleep. What I mean is sleep is important because it should make us feel rested and relaxed; however, not everyone can enjoy the benefits of sleep due to various reasons such as;

  • Insomnia.
  • Stress and anxiety.
  • Work.
  • Health issues.
  • Fear of having bad dreams.
  • Your living situation (living with others in the same room).
  • Having children, especially when they are still young.

Lack of sleep has been proven to have adverse effects on one’s health; therefore, it’s important to sleep well whenever you can to maintain a healthy lifestyle. According to medical experts, these are some tips that can improve your sleep.

  • Put on loose nightwear.
  • Dim the lights.
  • Sleep in a comfortable bed.
  • Stay away from your mobile devices.
  • Try to create a sleep routine.
  • Think of a peaceful place.
  • Avoid heavy meals before bed.
  • Speak to a loved one before bedtime.
  • Listen to calm music on a low volume level.
  • Ensure your room is airy.

I wish you all a peaceful sleep!
