A few days ago, I did what I have been so afraid of doing based on the horror stories I've heard
about it, I took the COVID-19 test. I took the test because I was travelling, and one of the specific departure requirements in Dubai is for all passengers to take a COVID‑19 PCR test before departure. To embark on your journey, the passenger must test negative. The COVID‑19 PCR test validity must be done within 120 hours of departure and preferably within 72 hours of boarding.I took the test at Prime Medical Centre Dubai because a friend who travelled recently took the test there. Her experience was what made me choose the centre. When I got there, I was told to proceed with the test if I have an appointment or an Emirates airline ticket. Otherwise, I should go to the Premiere hospital closeby. I was glad I had my ticket already because y’all know I hate stress. Anyway, I showed the lady attending to us my Emirates airline ticket. A form was given to me to provide details such as phone number, email, full name, health declaration, flight number and seat number.
After that, I waited anxiously for about 10 minutes, and when I heard my name, I was scared, scared because of all the stories I have heard about the pain and discomfort during the test. Anyway, I went in, and the nurse noticed how worried I looked, she reassured me that it won’t be painful and 1,2,3 seconds later, she was done. Weirdly, I enjoyed the experience.
My test result was out about 22 hours later, and it was negative. So I printed out the result and took it with me to the airport (only a hard copy of the result is allowed at the Dubai airport).
I am glad I didn't find it uncomfortable or painful. Let me know your experience in the comment section.
Update...
I took the Covid 19 test in Nigeria 7 days after my arrival and again, it wasn't painful, but I experienced a little discomfort. I was a little shocked when I was told to open my mouth for another sample. I also got to know that when I get back to the UAE, I will take another test right at the airport, so I can say 2 more to go.
