If you know me well, you’ll know I could be considered one of the fastest swimmers in the world
only when I have a swimming ring on! Without it, I’m just a spectator😃. Anyway, there was this day I went for a swim after a long time, and I discovered I just couldn’t move. Not only was I scared of the depth, but I felt the need to hold on to an extra swimming ring. After a few minutes, I was able to face my fears and let go of the ring.I’m currently learning how to swim without it because I just have to learn to swim. What I discovered recently is when children learn to swim, they can build a healthier life as they grow.
Leisure skills are those set of skills or hobbies that are useful when unwinding or relaxing. Numerous leisure activities can be learned; swimming is one of such. Luckily, this skill can be learned at a very young age.
According to healthychildren.org 'by their 4th birthday, most children are ready for swim lessons. At this age, they usually can learn basic water survival skills such as floating, treading water and getting to an exit point. By age 5 or 6, most children in swim lessons can master the front crawl'. Other experts believe at age 1, a child can learn to swim.
I believe when the time is right, my little man will learn, so he won’t be like his mama.
What skill would you teach your child?
