DIY: How to relax your hair

I started relaxing my hair by myself 10 years ago. My first experience was unpleasant, I ended up
asking my roommate in school to help me out, thank God she did. The reason it was difficult for me was that I assumed I had all the necessary items but when I started applying the relaxer, I got confused.

After that experience, I practiced on someone's hair and it turned out fine then I repeated the steps in front of a mirror on my hair. I do relax my hair myself when I can't make it to the salon but now that we are on lockdown, I have no choice than to do it myself. It's fun anyway :)

If you've never done it by yourself, don't be scared, I'd suggest you watch lots of YouTube videos on how to relax your hair yourself or ask a friend. It might seem like a scary process but once you follow these steps below, it will be easy. If you need someone to be there with you then you can call someone to watch you.

  1. Make sure your hair is dry and dirty.
  2. Apply Vaseline to the edges of your hair.
  3. Use gloves.
  4. Get all the necessary items close by.
  5. Divide your hair into many parts.
  6. Follow the directions written in the relaxer pack.
  7. Start by applying the relaxer to the roots of each part.
  8. Comb your hair gently.
  9. Wait for about 5-10 minutes.
  10. Wash and rinse your hair several times.
  11. Dry it.

What are your steps?
