How to protect your hair in harmattan

It is that time of the year to protect your gorgeous hair from harmattan. I have put a list of do's and dont's that can make you achieve a healthy looking hair this period.

DO's

- Coconut, Argan, Castor oil should be your hair's best friend now. However, you could also go for products like mega growth hair oil and similar hair products. Applying these to your hair reduces the possibility of hair breakage and gives your hair a healthy look

- Wear your hair in a protective style (crotchet braids are preferable)

- Choose wool instead of attachments this period (this is based on my personal experience as I noticed my hair got thinner when I used attachments during harmattan/winter. when I switched to wool, it was a different story)

- Apply hair oil to the roots as well

- You might also want to be a fan of headwraps. Once or twice in a week, just throw one on to protect your hair from dust and prevent the moisture in your hair from drying out quickly (you could wear wigs or hats if you are not a fan of headwraps)

- Apply oil to the edges of your hair often especially if you are wearing cornrow braids or have your hair styled to the back

DONT

- Avoid washing your hair everyday as it could increases the chances of hair loss

- Don't comb/brush your hair all the time

- Avoid ponytails or tight hair do.

- Dont apply so much heat this period on your hair

- Minimise the use of gel

- Avoid tiny braids, box or jumbo braids are perfect

- Dont switch styles so often during the harsh weather
