MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department made an arrest in connection to a man being killed over a box of hair.
MPD arrested and charged Julius Russell, 33, with killing Willie Abston. Russell is charged with
first degree murder.
Abston was shot and killed during a robbery on February 10.
Investigators said Russell was wearing a ski mask when he went into "Bundles of Hair" on Millbranch Road.
Police said Russell shot and killed Abston before running out of the store with several cases of hair.
It was very emotional as family members learned Abston was killed over some highly-valued hair weave.
"When you take a life, you can't get it back. You can't get them back. You don't come back."
Police said Russell gave a written statement admitting to being on the scene of the murder and that it was "a robbery that went bad."
In addition to murder, Russel is charged with assault and burglary. He's due in court Thursday morning.
