Hardly anything is off limits in Fashion Week.
But this new beauty trend is certainly one of the most bizarre.
Shiny nails have been pushed aside in favor of furry talons this year.
The peculiar look was exhibited by models for Libertine on the catwalk in New York last week. While their eccentric clothes were glittering and embellished, it was the tips of their fingers that garnered the most attention.
Designed by nail artists at the esteemed CND Design Lab Team, the look took 200 hours to develop. According to lead designer Jan Arnold, each nail starts with a coat of Vinylux Weekly Polish in one of two colors - either Rubble (grey-brown) or Cream Puff (off-white).
Then, either brown or white fur is glued on top using Super Shiney High-Gloss Top Coat.
The fur toppings spill over the models' finger tips. Other models in the show had hand-sculpted eyes stuck to the tips of their nails.
The unusual style drew mixed opinions from fashion lovers online - though most bloggers hailed the experimental attitude.
'We were able to embody CND's Fall 2016 trend story, which is all about authenticity, hand-crafted artistry and embracing the beauty in raw imperfections,' Arnold said in a press release.
Some people tweeted that the look was 'gross!' - but at least there might be fewer fashionistas snagging their pantyhose with their nails
.
